Barquisimeto: July 25-26, 2014, 2nd Religious Liberty Congress in Venezuela

About 1,000 supporters of the Association of Religious Freedom of Venezuela attended their Second Congress in the city of Barquisimeto. The members of the association held their board and elected Dr. Isaac Perez as president. The Venezuelan association is a partner of the IRLA and has eight chapters in the country. The association is open to all those who believe and are ready to promote and defend religious freedom. Christians, Jews, Muslims and also non-believers are welcomed.

IRLA Inter-American Secretary General Roberto Herrera thanked the association for these activities in favor of religious freedom in the country. Invitee IRLA Secretary General Dr. John Graz, who also attended the first congress in 2008, presented the state of religious freedom in the world and called all those who believe in human dignity to join the Venezuelan association. Dr. Graz underlined the fact that religious liberty is a factor of peace and progress everywhere it is respected. The organizer of the congress, Pastor Julio Palacio, said that a large festival is planned with other religious leaders in the near future.

The association has organized two religious liberty dinners in Caracas following the example of the IRLA, NARLA and Liberty dinner in Washington. The initiator of the Venezuelan Liberty Dinner, Pastor Rodriguez, said the association wants to develop this activity and invite more officials and religious leaders to support religious freedom.
